Privacy Policy

The Last Directive · last updated 16 August 2026

This policy covers thelastdirective.online. The short version: the game works without an account, and if you never sign in, nothing about you leaves your own browser except what the advertising and hosting providers below collect automatically.

Data stored in your browser

The game saves your progress to your browser's local storage — cash, upgrades, inventory, excavated terrain, transmissions received, and your sound and music volume settings. This never leaves your device unless you choose to sign in. Clearing your browser data for this site deletes it permanently.

Signing in with Google

Signing in is optional. If you do, authentication is handled by Google Firebase Authentication, and we receive and store:

We do not receive your Google password. Signing in enables four cloud save slots — the same save data described above, stored against your account ID in Google Cloud Firestore — and posts your best run's score and maximum depth to the public leaderboard shown on the title screen. Your display name appears on that leaderboard alongside those numbers. Save data is readable and writable only by the account that created it; this is enforced by server-side security rules, not by the game client.

Advertising

This site uses Google AdSense to serve advertising. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites, and may collect data including your IP address, device and browser information, and interactions with ads.

Hosting and analytics

The site is served by Google Firebase Hosting, which records standard server request data such as IP address, user agent and requested URL. The Firebase configuration includes a Google Analytics measurement ID; where analytics is active, Google collects usage data as described in its own privacy policy.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices and removing your data

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, or to object to its processing. Contact us to exercise them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page will be updated. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
